Dad is right that the town of Ft.Walton Beach is closer to that Holiday Inn than Pensacola. I was thinking of the small town of Pensacola Beach which is at the western edge of Santa Rosa Island. Ft Walton Beach is not on Santa Rosa Island at all, but is across the bridge on the bay side. Nothing much of a permanent nature can be built on Santa Rosa Island as it gets swept clean by hurricanes every few years. Even the house we lived in for a month back in 1970 had been severely damaged by a hurricaneqyw and rebuilt. We also heard that the Holiday Inn where we stayed in 1984 had sustained serious hurricane damage.

It was Navarre Beach on Santa Rosa Island.
