ANOTHER ONE FOR YOU DETECTIVES

Where was this picture taken? What is the significance, if any, of the grey house in the background?

It looks like the florida home. I don't know about the building in the backgound, unless it's the place we lived?

You are on to something, but you must be more specific. Give us a rough date, then the specifics that you guess or know.

What makes this picture interesting (it is not a very well composed picture)is that it is out of time sequence.
Look closely at the people in the picture.
Both Aaron and J are close, but not quite there.

J is right. The year is probably 1983.

Very good!
It is the house we stayed at during my Combat Crew training in Hueys, just prior to me going to Vietnam. Remember, we stayed a week at the campground until the flies got so bad that we had to leave. We lucked out with this house on Navarre Beach, near Fort Walton Beach, FL. White sand right on the Gulf. That was September - October 1970. We celebrated Len's birthday & Ben's first birthday a little early in the house. One night a storm way out to sea drove the waves to within 10 feet of the house!
However, the picture was taken, I'm guessing, in 1984. Q looks about 5.

That sand was so great there. Squeaky white. For some reason I think of turkey sandwiches when I think of Pensacola. Not sure why.

J, here is why you think of turkey sandwiches and white sand beaches. Journal entry - July 12, 1984 "We stopped at our favorite picnic spot that we had discovered last summer. We had a wonderful lunch of turkey sandwiches, potato salad, pickles, and all sorts of other lovely things. I think it was the best picnic lunch ever! Q and Jared put on their swim suits and played in the water for awhile. We had the whole pavilion and the entire beach to ourselves due to the thunderstorms which had just passed over the area."

They must have been awesome sandwiches. I know it would be a huge job, but if you made all of your journal entries digital you could organize them in folders and have everything fit on a DVD.

I'ts a great idea and I plan to get started on it. It will be a monumental task - 27 years of daily journals - but one well worth the effort.

wow. 27 years will take some time. It'll be cool though.
